Classic Homemade Hummus

Hummus is the humble dip, ready and waiting for your fresh veggie sticks, pita bread, or spread in a sandwich or wrap. Hummus is easy to make, as long as you have a blender. Feel free to play with the ingredients, adding more garlic, flavoured oils or fresh herbs.

Meal prep storage

Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Ingredients

  • 1 can (400g) chickpeas, drained (reserve 2 tbsp of the canning liquid/aquafaba)

  • 3 tbsp tahini (sesame paste)

  • 1 lemon, juiced (approx. 3 tbsp)

  • 2 tbsp olive oil ("a glug")

  • 1 clove garlic, peeled and crushed

  • 1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)

  • 1/4 tsp paprika (for garnish)

Method

Simply add all ingredients apart from paprika to a blender and whizz together until smooth. If the consistency is too thick, add more oil or a splash of water until you get to your desired smoothness.

Once blended, serve in a bowl, sprinkle over the paprika, and add another glug of olive oil.

Enjoy!
